INTEX RHEUMAFAKTOR® IgM TEST IS AN IMMUNOASSAY FOR THE DETECTION OF SPECIFIC IgM RHEUMA FACTORS IN HUMAN SERUM.

Rheuma factors are autoimmune anti-bodies who's prescence can be prooven in the serum of patients with rheumatoid Arthritis. Therefore they enable a diagnostic differentiation to other diseases of the rheumatic circle.
The determination of the rheuma factors in the serum of patients represents an important parameter in accordance with ACR criteria (American college of Rheumatology) with the diagnosis of the rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The specificity of the rheumatism factors is directed - contrary to other antibodies - against the Fc-part of Immunglobuline. The most important subgroup of the rheumatism factors are those of the type IgM. They work as Agglutinatores and can activate the Immunglobulin G after immune-complex formation with surface-bound. An inflammatory-degenerative process can be released e.g. rheumatoide Arthritis.
Although the presence of the rheumatism factor is not exclusively limited to illness, frequency, extent and duration of the Seropositive concerning the rheumatism factors with patients who have rheumatoid Arthritis are much more pronounced. The prevalence with rheumatoid Arthritis is between 75% and 90%. However, with 10% to 25% of the patients no IgM rheumatism factors are demonstrably in the serum (seronegative rheumatoide Arthritis), so that a negative test result does not mean an exclusion of a manifestos rheumatoid Arthritis. In addition, at a freshly established rheumatoid Arthritis, the synthesis of the IgM retards rheumatism factors is deleased (4 weeks and more).
The presence of IgM rheumatism factors can precede the beginning of a rheumatoid Arthritis for years. High concentrations of rheumatism factors are an indicator for the increasing risk to get sick with a rheumatoid Arthritis. Already existing rheumatoide Arthritis with increased concentrations of IgM rheumatism factors are generally associated with more serious diseases , whereby the concentration does not correlate with the activity-degree of of the illness. In addition, high concentrations of IgM rheumatism factors refer to a possibly worse prognosis.
IgM rheumatism factors can also be proven in the serum of patients with infections (Endocarditis lenta, Tuberkulose, Syphilis, virus illnesses) or autoimmune illnesses and in older patients. |
